It was great to sit down and catch up with Mitchell Powers once again. Mitchell was the first guest on The Summit Podcast back in 2022. We have both been busy since then, and we took some time to look back on our time together, shooting video, talking world, domination, and life. Mitchell operates Powers Media House and has built The Content Room in Portland, Maine where people can come and shoot a podcast, do promotional video and all kinds of other marketing / media activities. It's been fun to watch and be a part of. Like, share, subscribe! Thank you!

I had the opportunity to be a guest on The Find Your Awesome Podcast with Kelsey Abbott. Kelsey is a Human Design Specialist and we talked about all kinds of interesting things. This was recorded last August. Things have not gone as planned but it's an interesting look into what I was thinking and planning. Never stop reaching. Don't be afraid to adjust. Never stop planning and doing epic shit. After we recorded this episode Kelsey put her Podcast on pause (at 300 episodes) for a bit. She sent me the recording so I am posting our conversation here on The Summit Podcast. Enjoy!

Summary:
In this episode, Bob Turner interviews Justin Kegley, author of 'High Performance Nutrition for High School Athletes.' They discuss various topics related to personal development, discipline, motivation, and accountability. Justin shares his journey from being overweight to becoming a personal trainer and sport performance coach. He emphasizes the importance of setting goals and finding purpose in order to achieve success. They also discuss the role of nutrition in athletic performance and the responsibility of parents in educating their children about healthy eating habits. Finally, they touch on the debate of early specialization in sports and the potential risks involved. The conversation explores the pressure on young athletes, the importance of skill development, the broken American system for basketball, the problem with being a multi-sport athlete, the importance of recovery and balance, the pursuit of becoming the best version of yourself, the edge and applying your purpose, and the value and potential of every individual.
Takeaways:
Setting goals and finding purpose are essential for achieving success. Mastering the fundamentals and consistently putting in the work are key to long-term success. Nutrition plays a crucial role in athletic performance and overall health. Parents have a responsibility to educate their children about healthy eating habits and provide the necessary support. The pressure on young athletes to specialize in one sport at a young age can lead to burnout and a lack of enjoyment. Skill development is crucial for athletes, and focusing on practice and training rather than constant competition is key. The American system for basketball is broken, with too much emphasis on tournaments and showcases rather than skill development. Being a multi-sport athlete is important, but it's essential to balance the different sports and not overload the schedule. Recovery and balance are vital for athletes to prevent burnout and injury. The pursuit of becoming the best version of yourself should be a lifelong journey. Finding your edge and applying your purpose can lead to personal growth and success. Every individual has value and potential, and it's important to recognize and nurture that in ourselves and others.
